In every Araiya guest room stands an umbrella made by NADE \u2014 a charitable trust founded in Mumbai in 1987 with a simple conviction: that disabled Indians should not be dependent or dejected, but organised, skilled, and building their own livelihoods through self-help and mutual help. NADE supports disabled people in forming cooperatives and taking up self-employment \u2014 and the umbrellas are made by those cooperatives. They are placed in every Araiya guest room, and available to take home, with proceeds returning to the makers.
